We were sent one of the new Pottery Barn Kids Mackenzie collection backpacks for review and I am beyond impressed with the quality. ?Not only can you choose the size that you would like, but the extras that make this backpack comfortable are amazing.
First of all, have you ever tried a standard sized backpack on a 5 year old? ?It looks a little like some jumbled mess of a kid walking down the street leaning forwards trying not to fall. ?Now, Pottery Barn Kids has the standard size as well as preschool and rolling backpacks, but we went with the small. ?This backpack fits Graham like a glove and still holds everything he needs. ?Your standard 3 ring binder fits along with room for a little extra.
I used to say "bless your heart" every morning as Graham fumbled around with his preschool backpack slipping off his shoulders. ?Ultimately, I ended up carrying it for him because it was such a hassle. ?The Pottery Barn Kids backpack features a strap in the front that keeps the shoulder straps positioned on the shoulders. ?No more fumbling! ?They are also contoured so that there is less of a tendency for slipping. ?They also have tons of padding adding to the overall comfort and fit.
The back of the backpack is the most important feature in my opinion. ?This is what sturdies and allows the load not to shift. ?I can remember having super thin backs on my backpacks growing up and how the books would slide around and poke my back. ?The padding is thick enough to create support and keep things firmly in position. ?Not to mention, no books poking you!
Of course, there is a pocket on the front perfect for organizing pencils, pens, and other trinkets your child may need to carry. ?There is also an MP3 player holder with an opening in the top for ear buds (not that any 5 year old I know will need an MP3 player at school... but just in case you were wondering). ?Seriously, he can definitely use this feature when we are traveling. ?I'll refrain from my soap box about what TO bring and what NOT to bring to school in this post. ?The top features a carrying handle that is perfect for hanging in cubbies. ?There are also two straps across the front where you can snap your lunch box into place as well as two side pockets for water bottles. ?The outer material is also water resistant which is great for rainy days or messy lunches!
Graham chose the adorable snake print, but there are many more prints to choose from on the Pottery Barn Kids website in the MacKenzie collection. ?I love the adorable chocolate owl print for girls! ?So cute. ?Backpacks very in price from $29.50-$45.50 and come in sizes preschool, small, large and rolling. ?I'm so excited Graham has a workhorse of a backpack so that he can focus on what is important this year... growing and learning!
