The Wham Spot | Types of Auto Insurance Coverage

There are more cars and drivers on the road every year. This can lead to a higher possibility of a car accident for you and your family. If you get in a car accident, the car insurance you have can make a big difference in what happens next. How can you determine what insurance you require and how you can buy it? Car insurance provides you with protection from covering the cost of injury or damage you cause others while driving your car, damage to your car or injury to you or your passengers from an accidents, plus certain other incidents, such as burglary. Making the decision to drive without owning insurance could mean you have to repair or replace a stolen or damaged vehicle and pay the cost of any damage that you may have caused. Liability: This type of insurance can pay for the damage that you have caused. These damages might include personal injury, and property damage. Damages from bodily injury can include medical fees, and lost wages. Property damage includes damaged property and loss of use of property. It also covers your defense and court costs if you are sued. Recommended, more comprehensive levels of liability insurance can be purchased that take care of more events than the lower, state-mandated insurance. Personal Injury Protection: This is required in some states and is optional in others. Sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage, this pays the medical treatment for you or your passengers regardless of who was at fault. Local government usually sets minimum amounts. Medical Payments: Medical payment coverage is available in states that are not considered no-fault and will pay regardless of who is responsible for an accident. If you buy this type of coverage, you will receive coverage for necessary medical and funeral costs. Collision: Damages that occur from a car accident will be covered under this type of car insurance. Comprehensive: Applies if your car is stolen or damaged by causes other than an accident, including fire, wind, hail, flood or vandalism. Uninsured Motorist: If you are in an accident with an uninsured driver or a hit-and-run driver, this type of insurance will make sure you are covered. Under-Insured Motorist: Many drivers have liability insurance that might not be able to pay for all the expenses they are responsible for. Under-insured motorist coverage protects you in accidents involving those drivers. Emergency road service, car rental, and other varieties of car insurance can also be purchased.
