Online gaming fans flock to Gallery Nucleus for launch of new ...

A long line of gaming fans snaked around the block of Main and Monterey streets Saturday, waiting for the doors to open at Gallery Nucleus's book launch for The Art of Blizzard.

Nucleus is the first in the country to sell the book, a compilation chronicling the growth of online gaming company Blizzard Entertainment, from the beginnings 20 years ago as a three-person development studio to its massive international success with famous franchises like Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo.

Nucleus owner and artist Ben Zhu said the launch followed after Blizzard participated in a charity aucition a few years ago. ?We?re glad that they wanted to come here again for the book launch," Zhu said.

Nick Carpenter, vice president of Art and Cinematic Development at Blizzard Entertainment, attended the event along with Blizzard artists who signed autographs for fans. The gallery is featuring over 50 pieces of artwork from Blizzard?s gaming universe and four new official prints, which will be on display until Feb. 3.
