Bell Aliant Launches Community TV Channel - Community One

HALIFAX, June 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Bell Aliant Inc. (TSX: BA) is taking its first step into community TV programming with the launch of Community One, its new Atlantic Region Community Channel. The new channel gives a fresh perspective on the people, places and events that make the Atlantic Provinces unique.

"With over 85,000 Bell Aliant customers tuning into the best TV experience in the market, the time is right to start a community TV channel for the people of Atlantic Canada to share their stories," says Dan McKeen, Senior Vice President, Customer Solutions, Bell Aliant. Community One is initially launching with two original programs - Atlantic Journal hosted by Stephanie Beaumont, and Sessions with Jimmie Inch. Atlantic Journal will focus on news, issues and events that affect the Atlantic Provinces. Sessions with Jimmie Inch will provide an in-depth look at the East Coast Music scene and feature music performances and interviews. Community One will be provided to all Bell Aliant TV customers at no additional charge. It will be carried on channel 1 and on www.bellaliant.net/community1.
