Conscious Cosmetics ? Beauty, Health and Fitness

L.O.H.A.S. stands for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability which is essentially a socioeconomic term that describes a segment of conscious shoppers i.e. people who not only consider their own personal benefit but the impact on the wider community and planet. In Australia this represents around 26 % of the adult population. However, this is a global trend and not only do I think the number of people that start making more conscious choices will rise, particularly in Australia where such a wide range of choices are available but also the variety of sustainable and ecological products and services available will increase.

You can see evidence of this trend impacting on companies and brands alike particularly in the cosmetic industry where there is such a strong trend towards natural & organic products.

In the cosmetics industry it is about ensuring coherence between what is said and what is done. Some examples of this may include:

  • ensuring that products are actually in fact natural ? i.e they don?t contain any ingredients considered harmful or toxic to the body
  • choosing natural or organic products and certified organic where possible
  • when products claim to be Fair Trade ensuring that they actually do support the growers and manufacturers of these ingredients and that fair conditions and wages are adhered to. You can ask your retailer for proof of Fair Trade ingredients if you are unsure
  • choosing brands that use post-consumer recycled packaging where possible or at least that the packing is recyclable
  • ensuring all products are Palm oil free or that the Palm oil used is from sustainable sources
  • retailers and manufacturers being transparent by providing as much information about products so that you can make an informed choice about what you use on your skin
  • choosing cruelty-free products
  • having a multiple-modality team on hand to help you with your health & well-being including naturopaths, aromatherapists and beauty therapists
  • companies responding to consumer demand for green, sustainable and ecological options
  • cutting the green-wash ? this term implies that companies or brands are pulling the wool over consumer?s eyes by pretending to be more green than they actually are. It is a significant issue and I believe companies should make transparent their ?green credentials?. It may be that a company has a way to go but that?s ok as long as there is a plan in progress and they are honest about where they are at.

As a consumer you have the choice.

A College Cheerleading Scholarship

A major part of a good upbringing is a good education. Parents have diverse financial resources but they also have diverse ways of organizing their children?s education. Some parents are better at it than others. Likewise, not all children want to become doctors or dentists, no matter what their parents would choose for them and most of us thank God for that. Diversity is the spice of life, because luckily we are not all the same.

Funding for your child?s higher education is quite another thing. The costs of higher education never seem to fall , in spite of the fact that there is a depression and parents are being laid off. State funding is also in question. Therefore, there is a huge pressure on the subsidies that are available.

If you are short of the necessary amount of money to send your child to college or pay for it yourself, you will have to use your best gift to try to secure a grant from private industry. You alone know what you or your child is best at and the game is to exploit that talent in order to attract a scholarship.

One of the forms of grant that is often overlooked by the academically inclined is a cheerleading grant. If you can dance, if you are out-going and if you like showing off, you could get a cheerleading grant, even if you want to study pure or applied mathematics! Tangents off this variation are scholarships for gymnastics and track events.

There are four things to think about when seeking a cheerleading grant and they can all be made to begin with the letter ?W?, so that they are easy to remember.

First find out WHO is in charge of cheerleading in your school and if they know where you can go to find out more information. If the coach in your school is not up to speed, go higher. Go over his or her head, otherwise you may miss out. If that does not work out, ask around for big local sports teams and write to the sports club directly.

Once you have the relevant information about where the organizations are, find out WHAT they need from you. A good tactic would be to look at old games and practise the moves that the cheerleaders perform in those games. Once you know the cheerleading moves from previous games, you will have shown an interest in the club.

Find out whether the fund that you are applying to has limitations on WHERE you can be educated. Will you be constrained to the USA? If you want to study English in London, that will be a problem

Find out WHEN the application has to be sent in by. In other words, what are the deadlines.

There is a lot to do if you want a ?free education? no matter which way you try to get it. The point of this piece is to make you conscious of the fact that you do not have to only go down the route of applying for academic grants or even sports grants, things like cheerleading scholarships are also out there.

If you require information on being awarded financial aid for college students then you really must go along to our website on applying for scholarships and grants

The Best Anti-Virus Software 2011: A Review | A1 Software Spot

Every year different products are launched and a race is run among them to hold the number 1 crown. well, this time we are talking about the best anti-virus software products of the year 2011. Who is going to take the lead? Read on to know more. Antivirus vendors usually have to face tough competition in their commercial full security suites. Their free antivirus versions have comparatively been less competitive due to the unavailability of full antivirus features that give high-value protection; unavailability of lab test results; and lack of customers? awareness and acceptance towards them.

However, this competition for sometimes has seemed to be mounting up not because the companies have started giving full security features in their free antivirus products but for the reason that these have been improved a lot on security aspects. Free antivirus versions usually have an option to buy or upgrade to the full security suite by paying the price. these are generally developed for personal/home users who are unwilling to pay or can?t afford to pay high prices. Free versions always are light on security resources due to the inclusion of fewer features compared to the full security suites. therefore, users only have access to the essentials but not the additional features as they have lesser amount of data to be protected than the businesses.

We all very well know that antivirus software is a must-have (at least in the high-technology time we are living in) to keep our PCs clean and protected from all the malicious viruses, Trojans, spyware, adware, or worms etc. whatever you may choose to call them.

Getting back to the race of best antivirus software 2011, we have a list of free antivirus software products that have gained top rankings in almost all the websites? surveys. an interesting thing to tell you is that almost every antivirus vendor has begun to add ?2011? in the names of their products since the early 2010. See some of the examples; AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011, Norton AntiVirus 2011, McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011, Panda Antivirus Pro 2011, and BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 among others.

This indicates towards a fact that antivirus vendors had their products focused on the year 2011. since the year has finally made its entry, we have to review what the antivirus vendors have in store for us. they have actually come up with latest additional features that enhance security by running 2 different antivirus engines. a good antivirus is supposed to protect a PC from all the malicious threats including viruses, scareware, Trojans, rootkits, and keyloggers etc. There have been a number of technology trends in free antivirus versions that stand them apart from each other in more or less the same way. See what they include:

Mini Suite Instead of Standalone Product

The year 2011 stands witness to a new trend that many of the products launched this year almost reduced the difference between a full security suite and standalone antivirus product. Look at some of the features that do so:

Firewall- Initially, the full security suites used to include a fully-functional personal firewall as one of its many defining elements. However, with the onset of the year 2011, several free AV versions such as eScan Anti-Virus 11, Panda Antivirus Pro 2011, and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 among others embed a fully-functional personal firewall.

Norton AntiVirus 2011, however, does not integrate a fully-functional personal firewall. However, owing to its effective intrusion prevention feature, it provides effective protection against threats than most of the full security suites.

Spam Filtering- it is one among the common elements found in an antivirus software or security suite. BullGuard Antivirus 10 has inbuilt spam filter that accurately and effectively filters spams. eScan Anti-Virus 11 also features an inbuilt spam filter feature, however it is not effective compared to BullGuard Antivirus 10?s spam filter.

StopSign Internet Security 1.0 also has a spam filter integrated into an optional firewall. the independent test results are not available as none of the labs have tested it so far.

Installation Problem Acknowledgment- BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 has full remote management among other installation features to offer. McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 offers effective remote monitoring of installations and pushes back fixes to resolve the problems. Norton AntiVirus 2011 and Panda Antivirus Pro 2011, compared to BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 and McAfee, only provide basic information if installation has some problem and do not fix the problems automatically.

Phishing Protection- G Data AntiVirus 2011 and BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 embed a highly effective phishing protection tool. AVG antivirus Free Edition 2011 integrates LinkScanner that scans and marks all links posted on your Social Networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace etc. Similar to AVG antivirus Free Edition 2011, McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 has SiteAdvisor that does the same. Next in the line is Norton AntiVirus 2011 that also scans the links posted on your Social Networking sites.

Data Blocking- Only BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 and Outpost Antivirus Pro 7.0 block a user?s private data from being transmitted to any attacker/hacker. such type of feature is only found in full security suites. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011, Ad-Aware Pro Internet Security 9.0, AVG antivirus Free Edition 2011, and McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011 tune-up a PC and remove all the data traces attached to computer or internet use.

Fine-tuning PC- Almost all the free antivirus software optimize your PC for enhanced security and performance.

Dual-Engine Protection

Antivirus vendors have started to come up with more enhanced security technologies in their free antivirus products. One of them is dual-engine protection that utilizes 2 antivirus engines for enhanced detection results. Double Anti-Spy Professional v2 runs 2 scans one by one and also needs 2 separate updates. Though, it runs very slow but is effective enough to be waiting for. G Data AntiVirus 2011 runs fast dual scans with its 2 antivirus engines and provides outstanding phishing protection. Next in the line is TrustPort Antivirus 2011 that features 2 AV engines for double-layer protection. However, it runs little slower than G Data AntiVirus 2011.

Customized Interfaces

Most of the AV vendors have redesigned and improved the interface of their free AV products just to make them more user-friendly and uncluttered. Some of them include Webroot AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper 2011, McAfee AntiVirus Plus 2011, Norton AntiVirus 2011, Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + 2011, and AVG antivirus Free Edition 2011 among others. now there are several users who are always interested in knowing about every tiny-winy event or trend in security products. However, some of them may be more interested in having an AV that just works excellently without any flaws.

Ad-Aware Pro 2011 is designed to catch the interest of both types of users with an option of advanced and simple mode. There is BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 also that exceeds users? expectations by including 3 modes namely basic, intermediate, and advanced. the users can also archive their most used tools in a personal archival.

The improved interface of AVG antivirus Free Edition 2011 allows easy interaction and automatic updation. the AV has Smart Scanning feature that prioritizes scans to optimally utilize power resources.

Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus + 2011 embeds a thin vertical panel, which occupies minimum space on the screen and does not prohibit a user from viewing the screen.

Webroot AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper 2011 automatically updates and scans when the PC is not in use besides sweeping viruses, spyware, Trojans, keylogger, or worms etc.

Inbuilt Support

Almost all the free AVs come with integrated support featuring many easy-to-use tools that help users to find out information about different topics or how to contact a technical agent among other things. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 embeds an inbuilt support tool that automatically diagnoses different possible attacks that a PC comes into contact with, sends their reports, and launches purposeful scripts to remove them and clean the PC.

BitDefender Antivirus Pro 2011 features a search box that allows users to search for help information. it includes an inbuilt support also that collects system information and sends it to a technical rep for chat-based support. BullGuard Antivirus 10 integrates live chat and email support options with a message center that manages a user?s support interaction with a technical rep(s).

Panda Antivirus Pro 2011 embeds PSCAN that allows remote technicians to collect problem samples and send back automatic fixes to your PC without needing full chat-based interaction. Norton AntiVirus 2011 offers one-click access to chat-based support or relevant frequently asked questions (FAQs). eScan Anti-Virus 11 offers integrated online support live chat options.

How do I find my genealogy? | AnswerFuse.com

When I see a question like yours I am not sure if you want to find a website that will be an aid in doing research or an already prepared family tree. Let me tell you, already prepared family trees, on any website, free or fee, must be viewed with great caution. They are not submitted by some experts working for the websites that go around doing other peoples? family histories but by folks like you and me, the subscribers and yes, yes, yes, there are errors. If you disagree with wrong information on your family in anybody?s family tree, those that run the websites will tell you that is between you and the other subscriber. Even if you see the same info on the same people from many different subscribers that doesn?t mean it is accurate because too many people copy without verifying.

I believe Ancestry.Com has more records online than any other website. It isn?t free but your public library might have a subscription to it you can use for free. Still you must distinguish between the records they have obtained and put online and their subscriber submitted family trees. This is particularly true of their One World Tree program which is trash. Not all records are online but the ones you find will save you time and money.

They have
1) all the U.S. censuses through 1930. The 1940 and later are not available to the public yet.

2) they have vital records(birth, marriage and deaths) for many U..S states. Now understand many states did not record birth and deaths and issue certificates until the first quarter of the 20th century. Before then you have to go to church records.

3) They have immigration and naturalization records.

4) They have military draft and enlistment records.

5) They started accumulating obituaries sometimes in the 1990s and are getting more from different places all the time.

6) They have many U.S. newspapers online. I have found some older obits perusing through some old newspapers.

I have a friend who has made numerous trips to the National Archives in Washington. Both of her parents came from Italy. She tells me that Ancestry.Com now has all the records she found on her family at the National Archives. When I visit their free website, I prefer to go under ?Old Search? which is toward the top on the right. That way I can better pick out records I want to check. The ?New Search? was set up to just look prettier but their computer programmers probably should be hung.

Another free source is a new pilot program FamilySearch.org has where they are putting the Latter Day Saints (Mormon) records online. The Mormons have records on people all over the world, not just on Mormons. In Salt Lake City, they have the world?s largest genealogical collection.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1320964;p=2;t=searchable

Actually it would be wise to visit a Mormon Family History Center. I have never had them to try and convert me nor have I heard of them doing that to anyone else that has used their resources. They can order microfilm for you to view for about $3. Just visit their free webiste, FamilySearch.org, to get the hours for the general public to the nearest Mormon FHC..

If you are just starting out with researching your family history, the last place you start this process is on the internet and genealogy websites?as it sounds that you have launched into websites and got fed up because you can?t find what you are looking for, or more likely don?t know what to look for, do your groundwork first??.
Look on this site, it will help you make a start in understanding the principles of researching your family history http://www.familytreefolk.co.uk/page_11010.html , also http://www.bbc.co.uk is another good website that will give you all the information to get you started, search for heir hunters or family history.
Down load family history sheets http://www.mcpl.lib.mo.us/genlh/forms/ & starting with yourself fill one in. You will find the sheets act as a check list you may also find that you don?t have all your own information & have to go searching in your home and asking your parents/other relations about it, look for any certificates, baptism cards, wedding invitations, newspaper clippings and any other papers which can give you information, we all have these and most are put away and forgotten about.
Look at your own birth certificate, it gives you lots of information & don?t forget to write the registration number from it down on your form, as this tells you that it is primary document information, which is what you need for every piece of information you collect, once you start researching you will notice that many people don?t have primary information numbers on their research?which shows you it is hearsay, copied from others , from websites and guesswork and there is no place in family history research for guesswork. One wrong name in your tree and it means you are not researching YOUR family and it is so easy to get it wrong without looking at documentation.
Fill a sheet in for your parents /any living relations you have, go & talk to them, ask to see any certificates they have, write all the information down they give you, just from a marriage cert you will get both names including the maternal name, where they lived, married the date, their fathers names, occupations & names of witnesses?also if the bride/ groom could read & write at that time as if there is an x in the signature box they couldn?t, which also then helps you later on looking at other records should you find different spelling of their name?..ask if they have any old photographs as this gets people talking and remembering other people in the family they had ?forgotten? about?write down any ?family stories? you are told, it is all part of your family?s history and culture?.some may be correct, however many are not or have some truth in them and different people in your family will tell you different versions of the same story, you find once you start researching you can sometimes use these stories in your research for clues about where to look at records???..before you go near a website, this information give you a ?feel? for who your family is and makes it s much easier to find ancestors once you do start looking at websites
By using the family sheets it makes it very easy for other relations to see what you are doing & to understand the information you are collecting, they are more likely to help & give you more information?.as most at first will say, ?I don?t know or I haven?t got any idea about our ancestors?. It is also nice to be able to give you relations a copy, as by doing this they will look at the information, talk about it and may remember more information for you or even find some paperwork that has been long forgotten. I very often leave these sheets with family & tell them to add information if they remember, the more family you ask the better, this information is first hand information, most family historians regret not having asked these questions of older family members once they realise how valuable their knowledge could have been, however many often leave it too late to ask .
The very best sources of information is in your home memories of your living relations, any documents, certificates and newspaper clippings that many people keep?.you will get lots of information, start lots of interest in what you are doing and will get your family involved in helping you get started and are more likely to have correct information
Many will tell you http://www.familysearch.org or the LDS pilot website, it does have some good information, it also has lots of donated, unverified information which is completely wrong from people who have copied other?s family trees & sent it in, so don?t trust it as correct?
Good luck in your research

Free Training Online ? Internet ... - Business Marketing Services

Free Training Online ? Internet Marketing Training Videos

Do most internet marketing training videos leave you in a state of confusion?

Spending your time trying to learn from tutorials to find out you need a tutorial to understand what you are watching? during my search for free training online I found most were centered around affiliate programs and offered little value for actual strategies that could help me grow my internet business.

That?s not to say there isn?t good information out there regarding internet marketing training videos, but the best information is generally not found utilizing free training. Most internet marketing guru?s offer packages related to so-called blueprints, marketing materials and/or traffic strategies. Unfortunately, they?re not free and tend to be outdated, incomplete or overly complicated techniques, and overpriced based on the content that they deliver.

So how do you actually locate information that is relevant to money making strategies and marketing your business on an ongoing basis? It?s not easy but there are some clues that may indicate whether the material is going to work for you and be applicable now.

Before you get involved with another free or paid training program, rate each of the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10 where a 10 is excellent:

Assuming there is a general overview covering the related topics being discussed in the training modules, are these topics related to areas that would be beneficial to what you are working on right now with your internet business or overall business plan?

How much would gaining the knowledge from this information actually move your internet business forward? (best guess here)

Do the testimonials sound legitimate and coming from real people?

Have you located any reviews about this training doing a Google search, if so, from what is being said about the training, how relevant is it to the areas you are working on?

If someone referred you to the product what level of trust do you put on this persons recommendation?

From what you?ve been reading about this training is it targeted for a beginner, moderate or advanced internet marketer? (Rate no more than 5 for beginner, 7 for moderate and 9 for advanced).

Then based on the above answer, how close does this match your current skill level as an internet marketer?

Now add all of your ratings together for an overall score on the questions:

If there was a question listed above regarding the training that were not applicable to your situation then decrease the scoring table below by 10 (e.g. 55 to 70 becomes 45 to 60), if 2 questions are not applicable lower it by 20 (e.g. 55 to 70 becomes 35 to 50). If you had more than 2 questions that were not applicable to the training you are considering then something is wrong and you shouldn?t waste your time on it.

A score of 55 to 70 means this training is highly relevant and valuable.

A score of 41 to 54 means this training is relevant and valuable.

A score of 31 to 40 means this training is somewhat relevant but less valuable.

A score of 30 or below means the training maybe nice to have but not valuable right now. On 30 or below, I would pass on it whether it was free or paid training. It?s likely to be a waste of your time.

The rating system that I have outlined above may be somewhat cryptic but it serves as a good rule of thumb. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for many entrepreneurs is being able to manage their time successfully. It?s easy to get distracted by events and tasks that are not a productive use of our time. Before we know it, our ability to get things accomplished that would move our business forward is seriously lacking or even non-existent.

In closing, I want to point out what I consider to be the corner stone of any internet marketing business and the more knowledge you have regarding these specific areas the greater amount of success you?ll have with your overall internet marketing and sales efforts:

]]>

Keyword Research:

Keywords will ultimately make or break your overall success rate because they are the key to getting your pages, videos, images, etc? ranked in the search engines along with getting them indexed. Most of the free training online tend to use vague terminology regarding this subject matter. (e.g. Find keywords with high search volume and low competition). This is important but only the beginning, low competition could mean anything.

At the bear minimum do this:
??? ?Search for keywords that relate to your niche using the Google Keyword Tool. Go to Google and type in ?google keyword tool? without the quotes, and search. It will be the first entry in the list.
??? ?Once there, type in a general keyword that describes your niche. Make sure that you have selected competition as one of the values for your headings across the top of the list of keywords.
??? ?Click on the heading field that says ?Global Monthly Searches?, it will sort the list from largest to smallest. Look for keywords that have good search volume and lower competition according to Google. Also, pay attention to trends here, notice when your niche is trending higher vs. lower throughout the year.
??? ?Now bring up a new window in your browser. Go to the Google Search Engine at google.com, enter your keyword or search phrase you have picked from the list, if multiple words like training videos enter in double quotes as ?training videos?, then hit enter.
??? ?Make a note of how many results are returned according to Google.
??? ?Now here?s the real test to your actual competition. You need to know the page rank of each entry listed on the first page, so the first 10 results. The easiest way to do this is with Firefox using the SEOQuake plugin. We are looking at the natural list of search results and not the Sponsored Links as these are paid results usually at the very top and listed on the right side of the page.
??? ?Once you know the page rank of each listing on Page 1 of Google, add the individual page rank of each listing and divide the total number by 10. If the overall page rank is 2.5 or less you have a keyword you can rank for (this assumes you are starting from scratch and have no page rank in Google currently for Blog or Website).
??? ?Do this exercise for every keyword/keyword phrase you plan to utilize for your articles, ads, videos, images, blog content, website content, so-on and so-forth.

Learn as much about keyword research as you possibly can. The better job you do here means a higher level of success going forward.

Domain Names:

Once you have completed the keyword research it is vitally important that your Domain Name matches your main keyword or keyword phrase. This is where many people screw it up. Your Domain Name must be relevant to the keywords and the niche you are trying to rank for if you want any love from the search engines.

As an example: If you are trying to market to Internet Marketers and your niche is video online training, then a domain name of www.internetmarketingtrainingvideos.com or something similar would help you rank higher in the search engines with keywords around both internet marketing and video training. If you ultimately need more than 1 domain name to cover all the keywords that you need to incorporate then so be it.

You can always use domain forwarding if all of the content is being housed on 1 blog or website. Just know that your rankings in search engines come from keywords that match up with your domain name.

Learn as much about Domain Names related to search engine rankings as you can.

Search Engine Optimization:

SEO describes the strategies used to improve the position of a blog or website on a search engine results page (SERP). Generally, the higher you can rank the more traffic you?ll receive from the search engine. More traffic ultimately means more sales theoretically.

My advice here is to read the search engine guidelines and make sure you are following the main points and that you are not in violation or doing anything questionable because this will get you banned from the search engines in the long run.

The Sales Funnel:

This is the heart of your internet business as it is an expression of everything that will be presented to visitors of your sites. In the course of this presentation it needs to follow a concise and logical progression for all of your offers and information. A combination of text, video, images and/or other media to create a good mix of content for your visitors is essential. Above all, make sure your site is not boring or controversial by stating too many opinions unless of course that is what your site is all about. Also, use words that create excitement about the information you are sharing and around all of your offers.

The minimal areas that you need to focus on is learning all you can about creating great landing pages with excellent methods for email capture forms, creating an email autoresponder series, an excellent thank you page and your payment processor works flawlessly.

Marketing Strategy:

If the sales funnel is the heart of your internet business then your overall marketing strategies are the life blood for your business. Having a great website or blog without a clearly defined marketing strategy will not help you succeed. You have to be able to get people to your site in order to make the presentation or activate your sales funnel.

This single area of your business is ultimately where you will spend a great deal of time learning what attracts people and what methods do absolutely nothing for your business. One thing to keep in mind here, most of the free training online will focus more on free methods to drive traffic to your sites. There is nothing wrong with this but you need to realize these methods work over the long haul and do not generate much traffic in the beginning.

Learn all that you can about the latest marketing strategies and stay current with them. The better you get at marketing your business and yourself, the more successful you?re going to be. Remember that targeted traffic = $ $ $ $ ?s to your business. General traffic does not convert to sales; it will bring a person to your page that will immediately leave as they have no interest in your offer anyway! View it like this, you have a customer that wants to by a hammer and they wind up going to a flower shop. Make sure that your marketing strategies result in targeted traffic for whatever it is you are offering.
The idea here is to learn as you go. You don?t have to learn everything to be successful. Try to master one or two methods to start with and then expand your marketing repertoire as you gain experience.

I?ve shared some valuable information here but this is just the beginning. If you?ve been disappointed with inferior internet marketing courses previously, I have some great news for you.
