New Obama Ad Attacks Mitt Romney for?Being Too Careless With Debt?!

The Obama administration?s allies continue to fail to understand the definition of ?irony.? In an ad released today, the Obama-supporting SuperPAC Priorities USA attacks GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney of ?drowning companies in debt? and costing workers their jobs and benefits as a result. And after they?re done feeling clever, no doubt every Obama voter is now asking themselves, ?Wait, debt impacts employment and benefits? Who knew??

A look at the ruling upholding Obamacare

The Supreme Court decision upholding President Barack Obama's health care overhaul affects nearly every American, because the law itself is so vast. A look at what it does and what's to come:

WHAT DOES THE RULING MEAN TO ME?

The law tells almost everyone they must have health coverage and guarantees it will be available even if you are already ill or need hugely expensive care. It helps lots of people, not just the poor but many upper-income families, as well, afford coverage. And it requires insurers to provide certain basic benefits ? like free preventive care.

WHAT THE JUSTICES SAID

The high court upheld almost all of the law, including the most disputed part: the mandate that virtually all Americans have health insurance or pay a penalty. The court said that penalty is essentially a tax, and that's why the government has the power to impose it.

The ruling limited the law's plan to expand the Medicaid insurance program for the poor, a joint effort of the federal government and states. It says the U.S. government cannot withhold a state's entire Medicaid allotment if it doesn't participate in the expansion.

Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the court's four liberal justices ? Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor ? to form the 5-4 majority.

HUGE POLITICAL IMPACT

The court upheld Obama's signature legislative achievement. Final word from the court amplifies the most polarizing issue of his re-election campaign against Republican Mitt Romney.

GOP lawmakers and Romney have promised to repeal the law if they are in power after the November election.

WHAT NOW?

The 2010 health care law will keep taking effect. It's expected to bring coverage to about 30 million uninsured people. Overall, more than 9 in 10 eligible Americans will be covered.

Some parts are already in effect: Young adults can stay on their parents' insurance up to age 26. Insurers can't deny coverage to children with health problems. Limits on how much policies will pay out to each person over a lifetime are eliminated. Hundreds of older people already are saving money through improved Medicare prescription benefits. And co-payments for preventive care for all ages have been eliminated.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Starting in 2014, almost everyone will be required to be insured or pay a penalty. There are subsidies to help people who can't afford coverage. Most employers will face penalties if they don't offer coverage for their workers. Newly created insurance markets will make it easier for individuals and small businesses to buy affordable coverage. And Medicaid will be expanded to cover more low-income people.

Insurers will be prohibited from denying coverage to people with medical problems or charging those people more. They won't be able to charge women more, either. During the transition to 2014, a special program for people with pre-existing health problems helps these people get coverage.

An assortment of tax increases, health industry fees and Medicare cuts will help pay for the changes.

STILL, NOT EVERYONE WILL BE COVERED

An estimated 26 million people will remain without coverage once the law is fully implemented, including illegal immigrants, people who don't sign up and choose to face the penalties instead, and those who can't afford it even with the subsidies. That number could be higher, depending on whether any states refuse the Medicaid expansion.

THE TAXING TRUTH

When the law was before Congress, Obama and Democrats avoided calling its penalty for going uninsured a "tax." But the administration argued before the Supreme Court that the law was constitutional as a federal tax. The court rejected two other Obama administration arguments for the law but accepted the tax assertion.

Not everyone without insurance will be docked. By 2016, about 4 million people will pay the penalty to the Internal Revenue Service, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated. They would pay $695 for each uninsured adult or 2.5 percent of family income, up to $12,500 a year.

The IRS can't prosecute violators or place liens against them, however. Its only enforcement option may be withholding money from refunds.

WHAT ARE REPUBLICANS SAYING?

"Obamacare was bad law yesterday. It's bad law today," Romney said after the ruling.

The Republican-led House already has voted for repeal but can't push it forward so long as Obama's in the White House and Democrats lead the Senate ? making the November elections crucial.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell called the court decision "a fresh start on the road to repeal."

OBAMA'S REACTION

Obama says the decision upholds the fundamental principle that in the wealthiest nation on earth, no one should be ruined financially by an illness or accident.

He called it "a victory for people all over this country whose lives will be more secure because of this law."

ABOUT THAT MANDATE

Some parts of the law have proven popular. But the insurance mandate is widely disliked.

Each time The Associated Press has asked in polls, more than 8 in 10 Americans have said the government should not have the right to require everyone to buy health insurance.

The public also has tilted against the law as a whole over the two years since it was passed. About half opposed it and a third were in favor in an AP-GfK poll shortly before the Supreme Court ruled.

Looking for Finding Your Genius ? Different Kinds of Intelligence?
Find on our Site The Best Offers for Finding Your Genius ? Different Kinds of Intelligence

Mainstream society tends to define intelligence through very limited parameters. From pre-school through the collegiate level a person's intellectual worth is quite inaccurately determined solely by his or her ability to work with numbers, remember details, and handle language skills.

Students who do not excel in mathematical operations or the ability to communicate via accepted linguistic structures are often labeled as "slow", inept, or worse. Even outside of the classroom people are measured and judged smart or dumb by virtue of their skills with numbers and written/verbal communication.

It's right to celebrate a talent with numbers. And it's good to honor an ability to master sentence structure or remember, manage, and communicate written information.

But these skills are far from being the only determinants of strong intelligence. In fact recent scientific studies have identified multiple types of intelligence.

In addition to the verbal/linguistic and logical/mathematical intelligence recognized and rewarded by the standard academic system, researchers at Harvard have identified the following types of intelligence:

Visual/Spatial Intelligence ? This measure of intelligence manifests in the visual perception of the environment, the ability to form and manipulate visual imagery, and the orientation of the body and other objects in space. Simply put, an individual with great visual/spatial intelligence might excel at graphic arts, sculpting, observation of the environment, freehand carpentry, and so forth.

Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence ? This of course deals with one's physical dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to learn and express via physical movements. A person with enhanced bodily/kinesthetic intelligence might excel at sports, dancing, sex, and/or have a natural ability to work with hand tools or solve problems through physical means.

Musical Intelligence ? This expression of intelligence is fairly self-explanatory, and pertains not only to understanding/producing harmonious music, but also to rhythmic timing, dance response, and the intuitive relation to natural sounds and melodies.

Interpersonal Intelligence ? This form of intelligence is often manifested in the ability to understand, communicate with, coordinate, and even manage other human beings. People who are smart in this area find it easy to form relationships and maintain harmonious interaction within overall groups and communities.

Interpersonal Intelligence ? This expression of intelligence is the ability to understand the self, and to interpret and work with thoughts, emotions, instinctive reactions, and intuitive notions.

Naturalistic Intelligence ? This form of intelligence involves the ability to observe, understand, and work with the natural world of plants, animals, and even weather patterns and geological phenomenon. Strong organizational and classification skills are typical of this intelligence range.

Dr. Howard Gardner deserves our gratitude for initiating the studies that have categorized this wide range of different intelligences. In the near future it is likely that even more will be done to uncover and organize the less traditional types of human intelligence.

Reviewing the list above, and being aware of the standard verbal/linguistic and logical/mathematical intelligence patterns, where do you feel your genius lies? Don't be modest here; it's very likely you have active or latent talents within one or more areas of intelligence.

Spend some time observing yourself and being honest about the things that come naturally to you in life. Refer to the basic list of intelligence types and see if you can match yourself with some of the traits mentioned.

Understand of course that I've only made a very basic outline in this article. Each form of intelligence can be greatly extrapolated on.

Often undervalued by mainstream (and especially elitist) society, these additional forms of intelligence have played a critical role in human survival over the past several thousand years! Furthermore all manifestations of intelligence, not just the two facets that are nurtured and praised by our stunted educational programs, color the vivid and wonderful nature of humanity.

It's time we as a species transcend the limitations of "traditional" definitions of intelligence and embrace our greatness in the many forms it becomes manifest.

Oakland A's blow lead in eighth, lose to Texas Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rookie A.J. Griffin should have been basking in his first major league victory Friday night.

Instead, a now-familiar vibe permeated the A's postgame atmosphere.

A silent clubhouse. A frustrated manager. A reliever expressing his regret for not getting the job done.

The A's entered the bottom of the eighth with a two-run lead but walked off the field shortly after with a 4-3 loss to the Texas Rangers.

Reliever Grant Balfour, so reliable of late in the setup role, allowed one hit and three walks in the eighth, setting in motion a four-ran Texas rally that wiped out the A's 2-0 lead and Griffin's gem of a starting effort.

"When you don't throw strikes and you walk guys, you leave yourself in a bad situation," Balfour said. "I couldn't get the job done."

The A's have held leads each of the past two nights but have two losses to show for it in this four-game series against the American League West leaders. Each of their last seven losses has been by one run, which is the longest such streak in Oakland history.

Though Friday's defeat does not fall into this category, the A's also have four losses when leading after eight innings.

"It means we're playing a lot of one-run games," said A's manager Bob Melvin, clearly tired of rehashing such defeats. "And they're close. We're either battling back or losing it at the end, one or the other."

Griffin, who was recalled Sunday and pitched

well against the Giants, threw six shutout innings Friday against the American League's highest-scoring offense in a notoriously tough park on pitchers.

Balfour (1-2), who had not allowed an earned run in his past 10 games, allowed a single and walk with one out in the eighth. After retiring Adrian Beltre on a flyout, Balfour walked Michael Young on four pitches and then walked Nelson Cruz to force in a run and make it 2-1.

Melvin brought in rookie reliever Ryan Cook, who allowed Craig Gentry's bases-clearing triple to left-center that gave the Rangers a 4-2 lead. Chris Carter, called up earlier in the day from Triple-A Sacramento, homered for the A's in the ninth for the final margin.

On Gentry's triple, left fielder Yoenis Cespedes had a poor read on the play. He started in a couple steps, then broke back late as the liner sailed over his head. Judging by where the ball landed, it appeared Cespedes could have caught it.

He had a different take after the game.

"I didn't do it the right way," Cespedes said through interpreter Ariel Prieto. "But even if I read the ball well, I had no chance to catch it."

Melvin said it appeared Cespedes broke in, but the manager added that he hadn't seen a replay on video.

Cespedes began this season in center field but was switched to left June 1.

"Maybe if I played left field all the time in my life before, maybe that's not going to happen," he said.

Melvin wanted to let Balfour try to work his way out of the jam.

"I hate to bring in Cook in a game like that," Melvin said. "I really don't want to abuse him and pitch him one-plus (innings), but I had to at that point."

Griffin, who replaced the injured Brandon McCarthy in the rotation, has thrown 11 scoreless innings since allowing Buster Posey's first-inning homer Sunday. He worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the second as part of Friday's effort.

"I didn't foresee this," he said. "I'm just trying to take it in and stay here as long as possible. It was a bittersweet game, for sure."

  • Carter, a former top prospect with the A's, was recalled earlier in the day as starter Tyson Ross was optioned out. Melvin said Carter will play first base against left-handers with Brandon Moss starting against righties.

Carter homered to left field off Tanner Scheppers, an encouraging start for a player who has hit .167 in 39 major league games spread over the past two seasons.

He was hitting .279 with 12 homers and 53 RBI for Sacramento.

  • Ross' ping-pong journey to and from Sacramento continues, as he was demoted one day after going four-plus innings against Texas and being charged with five runs.

He is 2-8 with a 6.35 ERA in 12 starts with the A's, spread over three stints with Oakland.

Melvin said Ross has shown improvement with his slider but that he still needs another off-speed pitch. He also said Ross' rhythm in his delivery gets thrown off on occasion, which makes it easier for runners to steal on him. Texas stole three bases off him Thursday.

Ross' next turn in the rotation comes Tuesday, the same day Bartolo Colon is eligible to come off the disabled list. Melvin said Colon is likely to start Tuesday if his bullpen session Saturday goes well.

  • Reliever Brian Fuentes declined to comment about recent trade rumors involving him or whether he requested a trade.

Minnesota moving ahead with health insurance exchange | MinnPost

Nothing in Thursday?s U.S. Supreme Court ruling is expected to keep Minnesota from moving forward with its own health insurance exchange, according to key lawmakers, state officials and interest groups.

Health insurance exchanges allow some uninsured individuals and small groups to shop for a variety of tailored health coverage plans. The exchanges, typically online, have been compared to travel websites like Orbitz or Expedia, and advocates say they will help lower coverage prices.

Although about 15 states already have implemented exchanges, the issue has been extremely divisive in Minnesota. Gov. Mark Dayton?s administration began preparations for an exchange in 2011 without input from the Republican legislative majorities.

In an open letter to Minnesotans on June 21, a group of lawmakers and agency officials who are working with Dayton on the health insurance exchange promised to build on successes in the state while evaluating health care innovations in the future.

The letter (PDF) highlights Minnesota?s longtime leadership in health care initiatives and reform and calls for bipartisan solutions to the problems that still plague the state.

State plans for exchange ?going well?

    Mike RothmanMike Rothman

Department of Commerce Commissioner Mike Rothman said this week that planning for the exchange has been ?going very well.?

Many observers predict that the Dayton administration will move ?full steam ahead? with implementing a state health insurance exchange program.

It?s unclear, though, whether an exchange would need legislative authorization in the near future.

U of M health care expert Larry Jacobs said Dayton could be capitalizing on the strong executive example of former Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty to move forward with an exchange using his own authority.

?You might have found the administration to be tentative, given the lack of legislative buy-in, but that?s not the case,? Jacobs said in an interview this week. ?The Dayton administration appears to be quite comfortable moving ahead on their own power.?

Dayton used executive action in 2011 to begin planning a potential Minnesota-based health insurance exchange as one of his first acts in office. He signed an executive order to apply for a $1 million federal grant to begin planning the exchange, and under the direction of Rothman, an executive task force has been meeting to bring a plan forward by the Nov. 16 federal deadline.

So far, no Republican legislators have been involved in the administration?s exchange planning. Minnesota has received more than $20 million in federal grants to plan the exchange, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, which has done a significant amount of research on the health care law.

    Goal is 2013 blueprint

The 15-member task force and about 200 stakeholders involved in several working groups, Rothman said, are trying to put together a practical blueprint for a Minnesota exchange by 2013 to avoid ?a one-size-fits-all federal solution imposed on Minnesota? in 2014.

?Minnesota has been a leader in the health care and health care industry, on the cutting edge of all these issues and we have a unique health care system in Minnesota,? Rothman said. ?The best thing is to have Minnesota develop its own exchange ? rather than have it done by the federal government.?

Many details about the exchange?? including how it would be paid for, how it would be managed, and whom it would cover ? remain unclear. The task force released broad recommendations in January 2012 for what a Minnesota exchange could look like, but so far officials have been tight-lipped about the plan?s specifics.

Jacobs noted the wide variety of stakeholders that have signed onto crafting the proposal, including business groups, unions, providers and nonprofits.

The fear of a federally imposed exchange could have inspired a number of unlikely groups, such as the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Minnesota Business Partnership, to participate in discussions about the potential state-run exchange.

?They support it only because they think they?re going to get stuck with something worse, so the Chamber is in the business of cutting their losses,? said GOP Rep. Jim Abeler, chairman of the House Health and Human Services Finance Committee. ?Their support is not red hot.?

Of the three types of typical exchanges, the Chamber would prefer a private nonprofit ?that is based primarily in free-market principles,? said Kate Johansen, manager of heath and transportation policy for the business organization.

?I think we?re getting exchanges no matter what, one way or the other,? Abeler said. ?I still don?t agree that it?s necessary or a good idea.?

It appears the state is moving forward with a public-private exchange made up of publicly accountable members, according to the Department of Commerce. The plan mirrors failed legislation proposed by Democrats in the 2012 session that?s projected to cost between $40 million and $80 million to operate in 2014.

Rothman and other policy experts, however, say the potential benefits of an exchange would outweigh the costs. He said about 300,000 uninsured Minnesotans would have coverage by 2016 and that premium subsidies would help lower premiums.

?For me, it?s always been the opportunity to make a difference to help people obtain access to affordable health care,? Rothman said. ?The exchange is a strong mechanism, a strong way to help Minnesota continue to build on its health reform efforts.?

    Opposing views

Opponents don?t view health insurance exchanges with any of that zeal.

Sen. David Hann, chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, has been a vociferous opponent of the exchanges.

He and other Republican legislators question why Minnesota, who they say is already a leader in health care, needs the new marketplace. Hann also wondered aloud where the promised savings from a health insurance exchange would come from.

?They don?t talk at all about how that?s supposed to happen,? he said. ?Sort of like, I guess by magic, that we?re going to have this thing called an exchange, and because we have it, then something magical happens and we save a lot of money.?

Hann?s committee in March voted down 7-5 an exchange bill supported by the Dayton administration.

The move prompted the governor to criticize Republicans for their ?piecemeal? approach to health insurance exchange legislation ? there was no real action over the last biennium ? and to signal his intention to continue moving forward with executive actions.

?Unfortunately, there are some who would rather play politics with this exchange in an election year than work sincerely and cooperatively to advance it in Minnesota,? Dayton wrote in a March 26 letter to Republicans. ?If the Legislature passes on enacting such legislation, which must be bi-partisan, non-ideological and constructive, we will have to utilize the legal executive actions necessary to satisfy the federal law, as has already been done in other states.?

Hann, however, counters that Dayton and his administration haven?t been forthright about the specifics of the exchange and what the federal dollars would fund.

?What is the problem that the exchange is going to solve?? Hann, also a strong opponent of the overall health care law, asked in an interview this week. ?No one has answered that question.?

The Republican from Eden Prairie hosted Dayton?s commissioners multiple times in his committee, but inquiries into the specifics of the exchange and the duties of its staff were effectively ?stonewalled,? Hann said.

Dayton is ?doing this in secret and in private, and I think it?s shameful that he?s spending millions of dollars of taxpayer money trying to change something very fundamental about people?s health care without being willing to talk about it in a public forum like a legislative hearing,? Hann said.

About 15 states have implemented exchanges, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Seventeen states, though, have decided against creating a state exchange or have embarked on no significant activity to initiate the process, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

    Moving forward

Going forward, it?s unclear how the two opposing groups ? and some of the stakeholders in the middle ? will work together to shape a future Minnesota exchange.

DFL Rep. Tina Liebling, minority lead on the House Health and Human Services Reform Committee, said Republicans gave up an opportunity to help shape any exchange legislatively during the 2012 session because they didn?t engage in the debate.

?I think Republicans were caught between what for them was a rock and a hard place,? she said. ?On the one hand, having the federal government tell the state to do something is anathema to them, and then on the other hand being unable to pass a bill because the Tea Party members didn?t want to cooperate with the Affordable Care Act, so they had that little dilemma going on and it never got resolved.?

With strong grounds for continued ?unilateral executive action,? in Jacobs? words, the Dayton administration is likely to continue pushing forward with its own exchange ideas.

The November elections also could give Democrats an opportunity ? if they take back control of the Legislature ? to pass a bill that?s more ?consumer-friendly? and palatable to DFL interests at the expense of such stakeholders as the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

?I think they?re biding their time hoping that they can get a different Legislature or that they can somehow fudge it through so that they don?t have to have any legislative approval,? Abeler said. ?That seems to be what I observe.?

DFL Rep. Tom Huntley, minority lead on the House HHS Finance Committee, said he hopes to pass a health insurance exchange bill that?s in line with federal standards as one of the first acts of the 2013 session.

Lynn Blewett, an expert in the U?s School of Public Health and director of the State Health Access Data Assistance Center, said in an interview that health insurance exchanges are unlikely to affect most Americans. Those employed by large companies would continue receiving the same coverage, while about 30 million individuals likely would transfer to the exchanges by 2019.

?It?s not going to change the whole system,? she said. ?It?s like adding a new tool, a new infrastructure for people who don?t have the advantages of a large employer.?

OSU's Bishop retires from football, track & field

Published: Jun 28, 2012 at 6:30 PM PDT

Corvallis ? Senior wide receiver Jordan Bishop has elected to retire from football and track at Oregon State University due to injuries, head football coach Mike Riley announced Thursday.

Bishop, a West Salem High School graduate, lettered three years in football and concludes his career with 66 receptions for 893 yards and four touchdowns. He played in 34 games, starting 12, and will graduate in human development and family studies following summer term.

?It?s disappointing that Jordan will not be able to play his senior season,? Riley said. ?He has been a tremendous team member and will always be a part of Beaver Nation. I wish him the best in what will be surely a successful professional career of his choosing.??

Bishop, who has battled ankle and foot injuries recently, was a high jumper in track for the Beavers and earned All-America honors in 2010.?

Coach Riley also announced that the following student-athletes have left the team to pursue other opportunities or for personal reasons; senior wide receiver Geno Munoz, senior cornerback Keynan Parker, junior linebacker Cade Cowdin, junior quarterback Jack Lomax, junior linebacker Zeke Sanders, freshman-redshirt linebacker Will Storey and freshman-redshirt wide receiver Tyler Trosin, Munoz, who has also fought injuries during his career, has graduated with a degree in human development and family studies. Parker, a native of British Columbia, was drafted in May by the Canadian Football League?s Montreal Alouettes.

7 Common Myths About Sex and Relationship Bloggers | Skinny Dip

Today?s post was brought to you by Adam & Eve. All opinions, rants and raves are my own.?

After writing this blog for almost 3 years I?ve come to the conclusion that a lot of people have some pretty weird (and often hilarious) ideas about what being a sex and relationship blogger is all about.

I?ll never forget the first time I met my friend?Val?in Toronto. We?d known each other for several months online via Twitter and our blogs before we met in person.?When we discovered we were both going to be attending the same party, we decided it would be fun to meet up for a drink beforehand.?After a few minutes of getting to know each other over drinks on the Drake patio, she said something like:

?You?re so sweet and normal looking?

Slightly taken aback, I laughed and said:

    ?What do you mean??

?I don?t know. You?re just not quite what I expected. I thought you?d be bigger?

    ?Bigger??

?Curvier. I don?t know. I guess that?s the impression I got from your blog?

(I?m actually quite petite. When I told my boyfriend at the time about the size comment he said, ?People assume that you?ll be bigger because you?write big. It?s a good thing? Yes!?I?ll take it!?)

Val is a lovely person so we I ended up having a good laugh about this and have been friends ever since. However, this?wouldn?t be the last time I heard someone say the words, ?You seem so?normal? upon meeting me for the first time.?Since that experience, I?ve learned that a lot of people have pre-conceived notions about what someone who writes about sex and relationships should be like.

    tina fey with typewriter

I know Tina's not a blogger. I just love this photo and wanted an excuse to use it.

Here?s a few of my favorites:

1.?We should look a certain way: ?I remember reading in BUST magazine an interview with a female sex blogger in who said one of the comments she?s received from people is ?You don?t look hot enough to write about sex.??What do people think a sex blogger should look like?!?People who write about sex come in all different shapes and sizes: curvy, flat chested, male, female and all different variations in between.?There?s no one ?norm? when it comes to human sexuality so why would there be when it comes to the people who write about it?

2.?We sleep with everyone: I remember reading on City Girl?s blog about how her friend had overheard some women gossiping about her blog and one of them commented that because she writes about sex, she must have ?slept with a 1000 guys? ? a statement so far off from the truth, it?s comical. I think there is a reigning assumption that women who write about sex must be promiscuous by default. In my case, this also couldn?t be further from the truth. Although I definitely had my share of wild sexual escapades in my early 20?s, I just came out of a relationship where I was with the same person for 6 years and I now live with my mother. You do the math. Most of the sex I have these days is with myself.

3.?We want to sleep with you too:?Oh man. This is the one that bothers me the most as it directly ties in with #3. The most blatant example of this is an email I received from a reader a few years ago. In his message he mentioned that he also hangs out in a certain neighborhood of Toronto that I?ve mentioned in blog posts before and that if he ever saw me in the area he?d ask me if I?d like to go have sex with him ?because it seems like I?m into that kind of thing.? ?Right. Because?openly discussing sex means I have no standards whatsoever. SO CREEPY.

4.?We?re all really kinky:?Some of us are. Some of us aren?t. YES I own sex toys. NO I am not renovating my garage to turn it into my very own sex dungeon (shoe storage facility maybe, dungeon no) . The more I read stuff written by other sex bloggers, the more I realize how?un-kinky I really am. Sometimes it makes me feel weird because I feel like I have nothing to contribute to the conversation. This is probably why (with the exception of a few blogs) I tend to gravitate more towards personal and lifestyle blogs that aren?t necessarily about sex & dating. If you?re into whips and chains and being tied up, that?s cool. I?ll try almost anything once but kink has just never been my thing (or maybe I just haven?t discovered the kind of kink I am into.) If that makes me ?vanilla? so be it.

5.?We don?t live ordinary lives: Last year I tweeted something along the lines of ?Six Feet Under Marathon + Good food + snuggling on the couch = The Perfect Weekend? and some guy responded, ?Wow that sounds like a pretty boring weekend?FOR YOU? ?which makes me wonder, what do people think I do on my weekends?! Honestly, I like my downtime. I enjoy hanging out with my cat and reading books. Sure, I have a fondness for bright colors and animal print but my life isn?t exactly a non-stop LMFAO video.

6.?We?re all relationship/dating/sex experts: Maybe some of us are, but I?m certainly not and I find it humorous when people actually assume I am. About six months after I started writing this blog, I started to get emails from readers asking for advice. I once got an email from a reader confessing that he was unhappy in his marriage, was considering cheating on his wife and wanted to know what I thought he should do ? an email that made me stare at my computer screen and say ?Omg, I?m SO not equipped to deal with this??I don?t know how to fix your marriage, or whether you should call her, or what brand of butt plug you should use or the best place to meet hot guys. I?ll try my best to help you out but really it?s like the blind leading the blind here. I thought this was painfully obvious?

7.?We?re always looking for ?inspiration? and want you to tell us about all of your disturbing sex exploits:?People seem to be very comfortable telling me stuff. A little too comfortable at times. Don?t get me wrong ? I love a good story as much as the next person. For example, if you have a story about how you hooked up with _________ (insert name of D-List Hollywood actor) and he tried to pee on you in the shower, I want to know about it because I?m just nosy like that. However, some things are better kept to yourself. Like that time you hired a Russian hooker with your friends and then all took turns with her while everyone watched. No offense, but I don?t really need to know about that.

I can?t tell you how many times I have met guys who have said to me:

?Oh my god. Do I have a story for you! You?re totally going to want to blog about this!?

Then, they proceed to ear rape me with a nightmare inducing story that I?ll spend the next 4 days trying to block out of my mind forever and ever. This is exactly what happened last summer when I went out with a large group of friends for dinner. Amongst our group was a guy ? we?ll call him ?Steve? ? that I had never met before. After dinner we all decided to head over to a local candy store to grab some of their homemade ice-cream that they are famous for. While standing next to a giant display of Pez dispensers, Steve says to me:

?So, I hear you blog about sex. Boy, do I have a story for you. You?re probably going to want to blog about this!?

    (annnnnd here we go again!)

He then launches into an extremely graphic story about about the first time he had sex with a girl while she was on her period.

    IN A CANDY STORE.

WITH CHILDREN AND PARENTS WITHIN EARSHOT.

IT WAS THE WORST THING EVER.

8.?We want to talk about sex all the time:??Although I?ll happily ramble on about vibrators ad nauseam, I could just as easily spend hours talking about music, books, fashion or even social justice issues. It?s so easy when you write about sex to come off as one sided and scare people off in the process. I?m a storyteller by nature. As I told my BiSC roomie Grace before me met,?I write about sex & relationships because it?s easy for me and I have fun doing it.?If I was really good at styling my own outfits or cooking my own food, I?d have a blog focused on those things but I don?t.

9.?We?re going to blog about you: ?Obviously I can?t speak for everyone, but there is a lot I don?t write about. There?s something to be said about keeping certain things to yourself and that means respecting the privacy of people I get involved with. With that said, if you do something completely ridiculous like tell people that we slept together when it never happened or try and pick me up in the camping aisle of Walmart ? I?m sorry, but I?m totally going to write about you.

When people make these kinds of wacky assumptions, I just try and laugh it off, taking pleasure in the fact that they don?t know my deep dark secret: my life is actually kind of boring.

Do you feel like people assume certain things about you based on your blog or profession?

(AP) ? The brother of Ponzi scheme king Bernard Madoff will plead guilty on Friday to conspiracy and falsifying records, admitting his role in the multibillion-dollar fraud that destroyed the savings of thousands of investors, prosecutors told a judge on Wednesday.

Peter Madoff, the former chief compliance officer at the private investment arm of Bernard Madoff's business, has agreed to serve a decade in prison, they said.

Peter Madoff also agreed to the criminal forfeiture of $143 billion, including all of his real estate and personal property. The $143 billion, representing the amount of money believed to have flowed through the business accounts when he was part of the multi-decade Ponzi scheme, is included in a criminal forfeiture agreement, though authorities know that his assets would never approach that figure.

Court papers signed by a federal judge in Manhattan on Wednesday show Peter Madoff, who had worked with his brother since 1965, will plead guilty to two criminal counts, admitting his role in a conspiracy to commit securities fraud, falsify records of an investment adviser, falsify records of a broker dealer, make false filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, commit mail fraud and obstruct the Internal Revenue service.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa A. Baroni wrote in a letter to U.S. District Judge Laura Taylor Swain that, pursuant to a plea agreement with the government, Madoff, 66, had agreed "not to seek a sentence other than 10 years' imprisonment."

Madoff's attorney didn't immediately return an email seeking comment on Wednesday.

Bernard Madoff, 74, is serving a 150-year prison sentence in Butner, N.C., after revealing in December 2008 that he cheated thousands of investors of roughly $20 billion for years, using money from new investors to pay returns to existing clients. A $171 billion forfeiture order entered against Madoff forced him to relinquish tens of millions of dollars in personal property, including real estate, investments and $80 million in assets his wife had claimed were hers. The $171 billion represented the total amount of money that went through the company during the fraud.

Lawyers for a court-appointed trustee recovering money for Bernard Madoff's investors had said Peter Madoff also was the company's senior managing director.

The trustee, Irving Picard, said in court papers that Peter Madoff "failed miserably" to meet his responsibilities to monitor the company's operations and ensure its compliance with federal securities laws.

The court papers said Peter Madoff had received at least $60 million during the fraud and used fake stock trades to make large withdrawals seem justified.

Picard sought nearly $200 million from Madoff family members, claiming they used Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC as "the family piggy bank" to pay for vacation homes, cars, boats and even a stake in a beauty parlor.

Picard's pending lawsuit alleges that over the years Peter Madoff, his daughter and his nephews "withdrew millions more than they invested" in private investment accounts they had with the firm.

Peter Madoff "ignored obvious red flags that the profits reflected in account statements could not have been earned legitimately, to the detriment of BLMIS and its other customers," the lawsuit says.

Bernard Madoff's relatives have said they did not know about his Ponzi scheme.

The massive scheme, run since at least the early 1990s, demolished the life savings of thousands of people, wrecked charities and shook confidence in the U.S. financial system. When Bernard Madoff pleaded guilty, he insisted that he acted alone, describing a separate wholesale stock-trading firm run by his sons and brother as honest and legitimate.

So far, Picard's office has reached agreements to recover approximately $9.1 billion and has distributed more than $1.1 billion to Madoff's victims.

In a statement Wednesday, Picard's spokeswoman, Amanda Remus, said the trustee and his lawyers are aware of the letter to the court about the anticipated guilty plea proceeding involving Peter Madoff but had no comment.
